M. Scott Karchunas - President

Scott has been with Protective since 1988. A graduate of Notre Dame University, with an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Scott has served in a variety of roles within Protective including Senior Executive Vice President,  Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Division Vice President and Regional Vice President. Elevated to his current role in 2013, Scott enjoys being a part of a growing company focused on delivering the highest value to its customers and shareholders.

Gregg Cariolano – Chief Financial Officer

Gregg joined Protective in 2000 and brings many years of experience in the financial services industry. As the Chief Financial Officer, Gregg is responsible for many areas of the division including reinsurance accounting and the risk management functions. A graduate of St. Cloud State University, with an MBA from the University of Minnesota, Gregg enjoys leading and mentoring his team while looking at fresh opportunities to drive new business success.

Rick Kurtz – Senior Vice President, Distribution

Over two decades of experience with Protective make Rick well-suited for his role as leader of distribution. A graduate of Penn State University, Rick has risen through the management ranks, serving as Senior Vice President of Sales, Division Vice President, Regional Vice President, National Trainer and Account Executive. Rick's passion and energy continue to drive a results-oriented sales organization that is committed to delivering competitive, innovative business solutions.

Christopher Bernish – Senior Vice President, Operations

Chris oversees all operations for the division. A graduate of Illinois State University, with a Master's Degree from Southern Methodist University, Chris served in a variety of roles with Fortune 500 companies managing sales, marketing, customer support and technical operations before joining Protective in 2005. He is committed to building a strong customer-focused organization and coaching his team members to achieve new levels of success.
